Tungsten point, also known as tungsten contact, is often used as an electrical contact. It is for use in high voltage applications.
Tungsten point is widely used in relays, which generally refers to a device that provides an electrical connection between two or more points in response to the application of a control signal.
The user's requirements for tungsten contact are shown as follows:
1. High hardness, good impact toughness;
2. No cracks and no scratches with smooth surface;
3. The grain size of cross-section is fine and uniform with short fiber;
4. Good straightness, concentricity and roundness;
5. Low vapor pressure, low evaporation rate, small coefficient of thermal expansion, excellent arc resistance and stability.
There are main factors affecting the quality of tungsten contact:
1. Metallurgical defects of tungsten billet;
2. Improper control of the grain size of tungsten billet;
3. Poor master on the pressing process and sintering process of tungsten billet;
4. Inadequate design on producing process;
5. Parameter design of rotary forging die and repair problems.
