How Is the Wear Resistance of Cemented Carbide?

The wear resistance of cemented carbide comes from the high hardness of tungsten carbide, with a Vickers hardness of 2200 HV. The crystal structure is hexagonal, and the bond energy of carbon-tungsten covalent bonds is as high as 700 kJ/mol, which has strong wear resistance. Cobalt binder enhances the bonding force between particles and reduces wear and tear. Experiments show that after 1000 frictions, the wear amount of cemented carbide is only 1/10 of that of steel! Due to its super wear resistance, cemented carbide is widely used in molds, tools, drills and wear-resistant parts to extend service life!
