Analysis of Latest Tungsten Market from Chinatungsten Online
Tungsten prices remained stable, with the market maintaining a tight supply-demand balance. Compared to before the New Year's Day holiday, sellers' willingness to support the market increased, especially in the previously sluggish scrap tungsten market, where sentiment improved during the holiday, leading to a post-holiday price increase of RMB 10-20/kg.
65% wolframite concentrate was priced at RMB 460,000/ton. The expectation of tight tungsten ore supply continued to support traders' reluctance to sell and the high price level.
Ammonium paratungstate (APT) was priced at RMB 670,000/ton. After adjustments based on previous operating rates and market sentiment, smelting enterprises are currently operating stably, mainly focusing on cost factors and guidance from long-term contracts with large enterprises. European APT prices were quoted at USD 900-940/ton (equivalent to RMB 557,000-582,000/ton).
Tungsten powder was priced at RMB 1080/kg. Tungsten carbide powder was priced at RMB 1040/kg. Powder suppliers maintained a cautious attitude, negotiating on a case-by-case basis, awaiting market supply and demand guidance and macroeconomic news.
Cobalt powder was priced at RMB 530/kg. Export quota controls and mining royalties in the Democratic Republic of Congo tighten supply and push up costs. Although Indonesia is partially filling the gap and actual demand growth is limited, supply chain concerns continue to support current prices.
70% ferrotungsten was priced at RMB 650,000/ton. Tungsten raw materials are tight and prices are high. Steel mills are cautious in their consumption, and the market is operating on an as-needed basis, observing cost trends. European ferrotungsten prices were quoted at USD 133-142/kg W (equivalent to RMB 651,000-695,000/ton).
Scrap tungsten rods were priced at RMB 620/kg. Scrap tungsten drill bits were priced at RMB 600/kg. The overall activity in the tungsten waste and scrap market has increased. After some pre-holiday selling pressure was released, the recent atmosphere of supporting prices has strengthened.
