Molybdenum market update on December 12, 2025
This week, domestic molybdenum prices overall showed a pattern of initial increase followed by stabilization. At the beginning of the week, jointly driven by concentrated ferromolybdenum tenders from steel mills, strong willingness among mining enterprises to raise prices for shipments, and oscillating upward international molybdenum prices, molybdenum product prices generally increased; towards the weekend, downstream demand followed up slowly and bullish support was limited, but suppliers maintained strong reluctance to sell while supporting prices, with product prices basically maintaining stable operation.
According to statistics from CTIA GROUP LTD, this week molybdenum concentrate prices increased by approximately RMB 70 per tonne-degree, up 1.92%; ferromolybdenum prices increased by approximately RMB 4,000/ton, up 1.69%; molybdenum oxide prices increased by approximately RMB 70 per tonne-degree, up 1.87%; sodium molybdate prices increased by approximately RMB 2,000/ton, up 1.17%; ammonium heptamolybdate prices increased by approximately RMB 2,000/ton, up 0.85%; molybdenum powder prices increased by approximately RMB 5/kg, up 1.12%. From this, it can be seen that the increase amplitude of molybdenum raw material prices and molybdenum chemical product prices this week was approximately the same.
On the news front, data from the National Bureau of Statistics show that in November 2025, national producer prices for industrial products and purchase prices both increased by 0.1% month-on-month, with the same increase amplitude as the previous month. Among them, in producer prices for industrial products, mining industry prices increased by 1.7%, raw material industry prices decreased by 0.2%, and processing industry prices increased by 0.1%. In industrial producer purchase prices, non-ferrous metal materials and wire prices increased by 1.8%, building materials and non-metals prices increased by 0.2%, fuel and power prices increased by 0.1%; chemical raw materials prices decreased by 0.6%, ferrous metal materials prices decreased by 0.2%.
