Rare earth market update on September 28, 2025
The domestic rare earth market overall maintains a stalemate, with a relatively balanced supply-demand relationship leading to a subdued trading atmosphere and no significant changes in product prices. Today, the prices of praseodymium oxide, gadolinium oxide, and holmium oxide are stabilizing around 630,000 yuan per ton, 168,000 yuan per ton, and 550,000 yuan per ton, respectively.
From the supply side, influenced by factors such as intensified environmental enforcement, high energy prices, weak downstream demand, and slightly insufficient confidence among industry players in future market trends, the production pace of some rare earth manufacturers has slowed, thereby helping suppliers maintain firm quotes. From the demand side, downstream users are currently maintaining essential procurement in the short term; however, demand is expected to increase over the long term, primarily due to the promising early development of downstream rare earth industries such as new energy vehicles, smart appliances, robotics, and wind power generation.
In terms of news, recently, a rare earth high-strength, high-toughness ultra-deep well oil casing, independently developed by the Baotou Steel Pipe Branch, was successfully deployed for the first time in an 8,000-meter ultra-deep well. This achievement marks a significant breakthrough for Baotou Steel's pipe products in the ultra-deep well casing supply field. Compared to traditional casings, this product exhibits significantly improved pressure resistance and deformation resistance, making it suitable for complex oil and gas well environments. Previously, the product underwent multiple rounds of laboratory simulations and field tests, confirming its ability to effectively handle the complex stresses and harsh conditions of ultra-deep wells.
