Molybdenum market update on August 25, 2025
At the beginning of the week, the overall molybdenum market in China is performing well, with most product prices continuing the upward trend from last week. The price of molybdenum concentrate increased by approximately 80 yuan per ton-unit to 4,550 yuan per ton-unit, the price of ferromolybdenum increased by about 2,000 yuan per ton, nearing the 290,000 yuan per ton threshold, and the price of ammonium tetramolybdate increased by approximately 3,000 yuan per ton, breaking through the 270,000 yuan per ton mark. Against this backdrop, industry players are focusing on downstream user demand.
In terms of news, from January to July 2025, China’s cumulative molybdenum product imports totaled 47,759.19 tons, increased by 25.80% year-on-year; exports totaled 21,222.17 tons, decreased by 9.52% year-on-year. In July 2025, molybdenum product imports were 6,657.68 tons, increased by 2.74% month-on-month and increased by 53.94% year-on-year; exports were 3,346.37 tons, increased by 90.79% month-on-month and decreased by 3.39% year-on-year.
