Rare earth market update on July 30, 2025
The overall performance of the domestic rare earth market has been moderate, with supplier quotes adjusting within a reasonable range amid a relatively balanced supply-demand relationship and gradually weakening bullish support. Today, the prices of praseodymium oxide, praseodymium-neodymium oxide, terbium oxide, and dysprosium oxide are approximately 536,000 yuan per ton, 523,000 yuan per ton, 7,140 yuan per kilogram, and 1,650,000 yuan per ton, respectively. From the supply side, with high production difficulty, significant production costs, and weak downstream demand, the output of some rare earth manufacturers has decreased. Coupled with limited imports of rare earth products in China, the growth of market spot supply has slowed further. From the demand side, downstream users currently maintain rigid demand; however, in the long term, with the rapid development of industries such as robotics, wind power generation, and new energy vehicles, the usage of rare earth products is expected to increase.
According to the Baotou Statistical Micro-Message, in the first half of 2025, the added value of large-scale industries in Baotou City increased by 12.3% year-on-year, surpassing the national average (6.4%) and the regional average (7.1%) by 5.9 and 5.2 percentage points, respectively, maintaining double-digit growth for 58 consecutive months. Among these, the added value of crystalline silicon photovoltaic, onshore wind power equipment, and the rare earth industry increased by 14.1%, 32.6%, and 16.7% year-on-year, respectively, collectively contributing 6.5 percentage points to the growth of the added value of large-scale industries.
