According to data compiled by Chinatungsten Online from the General Administration of Customs, in March 2025, China’s imports of tungsten products (excluding carbide cutting tools and tungsten halogen lamps, hereinafter the same) totaled 1,109.56 tons. This represents a year-on-year increase of 37.74% compared to March 2024 and a month-on-month decrease of 20.73% compared to February 2025. The import value amounted to 144 million yuan, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 37.74% and a month-on-month decrease of 20.73%.
Of this total, in March 2025, China imported 854.02 tons of tungsten ores and concentrates, marking a year-on-year increase of 119.11% and a month-on-month decrease of 19.49%. Tungsten trioxide imports amounted to 564 kilograms, showing a year-on-year decrease of 98.72% and a month-on-month decrease of 88.38%. Imports of other tungsten oxides and hydroxides, not elsewhere specified, reached 1 kilogram. Tungsten hexafluoride imports were 46.01 tons, down 13.43% year-on-year and up 38.62% month-on-month. Sodium tungstate imports totaled 196.03 tons, decreasing 29.67% year-on-year and 29.43% month-on-month. Tungsten carbide imports amounted to 1,501 kilograms, reflecting a year-on-year decrease of 80.47% and a month-on-month decrease of 87.25%. Tungsten powder imports totaled 8,444 kilograms, decreasing 369.11% year-on-year and 107.93% month-on-month. Tungsten wire imports were 317 kilograms, down 8.65% year-on-year and 3.06% month-on-month. Imports of tungsten bars, rods, profiles, plates, sheets, strips, and foils totaled 619 kilograms, reflecting a year-on-year decrease of 17.02% and a month-on-month decrease of 19.92%.
In addition, in March 2025, China imported 54.46 tons of coated or plated carbide knives and cutting blades for metalworking machinery, representing a year-on-year decrease of 6.41% and a month-on-month decrease of 0.86%. Imports of other carbide knives and cutting blades for metalworking machinery amounted to 52.51 tons, up 26.76% year-on-year and 61.97% month-on-month.
