According to data compiled by China Tungsten Online from the General Administration of Customs, in February 2025, China’s imports of tungsten products (excluding carbide cutting tools and tungsten halogen lamps, hereinafter the same) totaled 1,399.82 tons. This represents a year-on-year increase of 48.99% compared to February 2024 and a month-on-month increase of 5.55% compared to January 2025. The import value amounted to RMB 177 million, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 29.67% and a month-on-month increase of 5.84%.
Of this total, in February 2025, China imported 1,060.77 tons of tungsten ores and concentrates, marking a year-on-year increase of 70.13% and a month-on-month increase of 7.31%. Tungsten trioxide imports amounted to 4,855 kilograms, showing a year-on-year increase of 61.83% and a month-on-month increase of 123 times. Tungsten hexafluoride imports were 33.19 tons, up 0.40% year-on-year and down 21.16% month-on-month. Sodium tungstate imports totaled 277.76 tons, increasing 6.36% year-on-year and 17.22% month-on-month. Tungsten carbide imports amounted to 11.77 tons, reflecting a year-on-year decrease of 26.57% and a month-on-month increase of 421.86%. Tungsten powder imports totaled 4,061 kilograms, surging 564.65% year-on-year and 56.43% month-on-month. Unwrought tungsten, including bars and rods obtained simply by sintering, amounted to 893 kilograms, with a year-on-year increase of 289.96% and a month-on-month increase of 148 times. Tungsten wire imports were 327 kilograms, up 15.14% year-on-year and down 9.17% month-on-month. Imports of tungsten bars, rods, profiles, plates, sheets, strips, and foils totaled 773 kilograms, showing a year-on-year increase of 53.37% and a month-on-month increase of 34.67%.
In addition, in February 2025, China imported 54.94 tons of coated or plated carbide knives and cutting blades for metalworking machinery, representing a year-on-year increase of 13.37% and a month-on-month increase of 2.82%. Imports of other carbide knives and cutting blades for metalworking machinery amounted to 32.42 tons, up 0.70% year-on-year and down 10.87% month-on-month.
