Nano yellow tungsten oxide may not only be applied for the preparation of thermal insulation paper, but be applied in different fields with the development of applications and the maturity of preparation methods of yellow tungsten oxide. For example, the combination of yellow tungsten oxide and its wettability has opened up a new path for the utilization of tungsten resources in China. It will have very important theoretical value and practical significance.
Superhydrophobic tungsten trioxide particles may be synthesized by combining acid precipitation process and octadecyltrichlorosilane modification. The UV-durability and mechanical robustness of coating were evaluated by UV light experiment and abrasion experiment, respectively. And the self-cleaning behavior of the superhydropobic coating was studied by stain-resistance test and of dirt-removal test. Also, the applicability of the coating was characterized by coating on various substrates. Results showed that the as-prepared coating can be used on different substrates, such as glass, copper mesh, steel, paper and fiber. Therefore, the facile preparation of the superhydrophobic WO3 coating with excellent properties will be very meaningful for the design and fabrication of high performance superhydrophobic surfaces on different substrates.
